This is about class warfare, sports and ambitious kids from opposite sides of the track. It just happens to be about high school football and it just happens to be set in Maine. It is the tale of two communities, one white collar and one blue, united by a common dream: winning the State Championship. Physical conflict takes place on the field, but the real story is how these two communities see themselves and what they teach their kids about the game of life, the pride of place, the passion of tradition and the careful balance between success and respect.
Rivals will premiere at the Maine International Film festival July 10-19 (www.miff.org) in Waterville, ME
The short, written, produced and directed by Lisa Quijano Wolfinger is a whimsical tale of desire, destiny and dogs. This comedy of errors explores the power of unspoken attraction and the pitfalls of mistaken assumptions. Inspired by Dionne Warwick's famous version of the song, "Walk on by," the film deftly captures the heartache of a broken heart while never giving up on love. Produced and shot on a limited budget, the short is the work of a dedicated group of talented Lone Wolfers and free lancers eager to prove what they can do.
